is to promote greater awareness of the complexity of the role and profile of the Research Manager and Administrator
Why a professional framework is important
The professional framework identifies the skills and competencies required to the Research Manager, detailing them according to both the areas of activity related to the RMA profession (Organization, management and monitoring of the research management service; planning and development of research strategies and policies; Pre-award phase: partnerships, collaborations, fund raising, research design; Post-award phase: management of funded research projects; Open and Citizens Science; research evaluation) and the level of responsibility assumed (Leader – Responsible of strategic functions for the institution; Manager – Subordinate to a leader but responsible for a team or a specific activity; Administrator – Responsible for specific and operational activities).
The framework provides a useful framework of training needs and training projects that are necessary for RMAs at different stages of career development.
